HCG PREGNANCY TEST

The hormone beta-hCG, also known as bHCG or chorionic gonadotropin hormone, is secreted only in pregnant women from the first days of embryo development around the 10th day of pregnancy. Its level gradually increases during the first eight weeks of pregnancy. It reaches its highest level between the seventh and twelfth week and then decreases steadily until the end of the pregnancy.

Usage tips :

The test (presented in the form of a stick or card) contains antibodies that react in the presence of the pregnancy hormone. A blue line or a small cross appears depending on your status "pregnant" or "not pregnant" (these signs vary by brand). Today, some tests even indicate how long ago your pregnancy started.

"If most tests can be done at any time of the day, it is still preferable (if you can wait!) to take the test in the morning upon waking, as the urine is more concentrated. Therefore, the test is more likely to be positive in the case of a recent pregnancy." 

Taking a pregnancy test is often a moment full of emotions. Hands tremble, the heart beats very fast… The tests are very easy to analyze, but it is essential to read the instructions beforehand and follow the guidelines. Most tests follow the same principle. You just need to place the tester in a container of urine (that you have just collected) or hold it under a stream of urine and read the result after about 3 minutes (the duration varies depending on the brands). A color change indicates the presence of a certain level of HCG. A control window allows you to verify that the test has been properly conducted. In case of a handling error, this box remains empty.
The absorption of too much liquid before the test can dilute the pregnancy hormone. Therefore, it is better to avoid drinking too much liquid before the test.
