How does a pregnancy test work?

After the embryo implants, the body produces a hormone called HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). Its level rises during the first weeks and the hormone appears in urine. The test reacts to the presence of this hormone. If the level is still too low, a test taken very early may show a negative result even though the pregnancy has started.

How to use the Healgen HCG pregnancy test

1. Read the leaflet before starting and check the expiry date shown on the pouch.
2. Collect urine in a clean, dry container, preferably first morning urine, which is more concentrated in HCG.
3. Open the pouch at the last moment, then apply the urine to the device following the method described in the leaflet (dipping or placing drops with the dropper, depending on the model).
4. Lay the test flat and wait 3 minutes. Do not read the result long after the time given in the leaflet.

How to read the result

• Two lines: positive result.
• Only one control line: negative result.
• No control line: invalid test, to be repeated with a new test.

In all cases, follow the leaflet supplied with the test.
