Postpartum and maternity: the weeks we talk about too little
We spend a long time preparing for the baby's arrival, but much less time preparing for the body that has just given birth. Yet the first few weeks require specific supplies, and realizing this the day before leaving for the maternity hospital is comfortable for no one. This collection brings together what you will really need, without anything superfluous.
What to pack in your bag
Moroccan maternity hospitals rarely provide postpartum protection. Plan to bring it, in larger quantities than you might imagine.
Protection
- Maternity pads - longer and more absorbent than regular pads, they are designed for lochia during the first few days. Plan for about twenty for your stay.
- Disposable underwear - high-waisted, they hold the pad in place without putting pressure on a C-section scar
- Underpads - useful at the maternity hospital and when you return home
For breastfeeding
- Disposable or washable nursing pads
- Lanolin-based nipple cream that can be applied without rinsing before breastfeeding
- Protective shells for sensitive nipples
- Wire-free nursing bra, one size larger than your usual size
Abena, our trusted brand for protection
Abena is a Danish manufacturer specializing in medical protection products. Its maternity pads offer significantly better absorbency and softness than everyday hygiene products, which matters when the skin is sensitive.
After a C-section
A scar changes your needs. Choose high-waisted underwear that sits above the scar rather than across it, as well as loose clothing without seams at the waist. An abdominal support belt may make those first movements more comfortable - ask your midwife or doctor for confirmation.
Your body needs time, and that is normal
Bleeding lasts several weeks on average and gradually decreases. The fatigue during this period is not a lack of willpower. Planning your supplies in advance frees up energy for everything else.
Seek medical advice promptly if you have a fever, bleeding that becomes heavy again, unusual pain, or signs of mastitis. And if your mood remains low, talk about it: postpartum recovery is something you can receive support through, not something you have to go through alone.

Frequently asked questions
How many maternity pads should I plan for?
About twenty for your stay, and the same number for your first week at home. It is better to have too many.
Maternity pads or regular pads?
Maternity pads are longer, thicker, and do not have an irritating plastic surface. On sensitive skin and with heavy flow, the difference is noticeable from the first day.
When should I start wearing a nursing bra?
From the last month of pregnancy, as your breasts have already changed. Choose one without underwires and one size larger than your pregnancy size.
Do you deliver throughout Morocco?
Yes, throughout the kingdom, with pickup also available at our store in Kénitra.
